HOW TO PUT IN A MAINTENANCE REQUEST

HOW TO OBTAIN YOUR INFORMATION USING THE PRIVACY ACT
You can request your information from Kāinga Ora under the Privacy Act 2020. You have the right to request access to the personal information Kāinga Ora hold about you as part of your Kāinga Ora records. You can also access some information anytime using MyKāingaOra. Please call Kāinga Ora on 0800 801 601 to request a copy of your personal information.
Kāinga Ora may require proof of your identity before they provide you with a copy of this information.
They will respond to an information request within 20 working days after they receive it.
They will give written notice if they need more time to respond. If they refuse an access request, they will tell you in writing and state the reasons for refusal and outline further steps you can take. If you consider that some of the information they hold about you is incorrect, you can ask them to change it. They will assess your request and will either change the relevant information, or explain why they think the information should not be changed. If they do not amend your file, you still have the right to have your own statement of correction attached to it and they will make a note of your change request on your records.

General repairs
Call Kāinga Ora on 0800 801 601 and select 'option 4 - repairs and maintenance', Monday to Friday between 8am - 6pm.
Urgent repairs
Call Kāinga Ora on 0800 801 601 and select 'option 4 - repairs and maintenance', anytime.
Urgent repairs are problems that affect your health and safety. Kāinga Ora will fix these within 4 hours, wherever possible.
Type of maintenance and target response times.
Urgent Health and Safety maintenance requests have a target response time of 4 hours.
Urgent responsive maintenance that is not health and safety related has a target response time of 48 hours.
General responsive maintenance that is non urgent has a target response time of 10 days
Responsive scope which are larger defects or follow on work after a temporary repair has been done has a target response time of 30 days.
If Kāinga Ora fails to meet their legal obligations as a tenant there are a number of avenues you can pursue including but not limited to;
*Following the Kāinga Ora complaint process.
*Issuing a 14 day notice to remedy.
*Applying to Tenancy Tribunal to help sort any issues.
It's important to note that the cost of filing to go to the Tenancy Tribunal is $20.44 and that if you are on a benefit MInistry of Social Development may be able to help pay this for you.
If Kāinga Ora enter into a tenancy agreement with you it is their responsibility to;
make sure your home or flat is in good condition and that the locks and fastenings are adequate
make sure your home meets building codes and health and safety standards
arrange for essential repairs to be done as quickly as possible
give you 24 hours notice before doing any planned maintenance work
give you 48 hours notice before an inspection.
