VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS
Where is the compassion, Kāinga Ora?
Our goal is quite simple, to be the voice for the voiceless. For too long Kāinga Ora has not put the needs of tenants first. Not only are the maintenance and repairs substandard but the figure to June 2021, shows only 11,000 out of 68,000 KO houses meet the Healthy Homes Standards. It is then, sheer hypocrisy that this Labour government ask private landlords for compassion, when a government agency appears to have none for their own tenants. We aim to not only challenge Kāinga Ora, but also the government for failing vulnerable members of society by sharing peoples' real life stories and experiences. WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Over recent weeks it's become more and more apparent that the Labour government is out of touch with the condition of the state housing system and the effect these houses are taking on people's physical and mental health. Our goal is to help people deal with a government and government department who are not just letting tenants down, but are also letting down the whole country with their misuse of taxpayers money. We aim to arm people with the information they need, that allows them, to not only get maintenance issues sorted but also the avenues (and costs) involved should KO not fulfill their legal obligations as a landlord. We will work with people to access their private information held on KO records and be the voice for the many voiceless KO clients who fear retribution as a result of speaking out.

WHAT YOU CAN DO?
Change comes from speaking out. We are aware people are afraid of speaking out for fear of retribution so we are willing to be your voice. All we ask is you provide us with evidence to back up your claims. We can help you with the process to access your private information from Kāinga Ora.
